There were three styles of the horse and jockey in motion. Due to the rise of American horse racing during the first half of the 1900s, Bonheurs prized Le Grand Jockey was a popular reproduction that was sought after by American upper class individuals yearning to take home a piece of French sculpting. Bonheur passed in 1901 and original casts were extremely difficult to obtain. Seeing an opportunity, his family authorized casts bearing only his name but not with the foundry mark. These were made available to the American consumer and a handful of quality copies are still around but only a few have not been damaged or mistreated. We are offering a mint condition authorized reproduction at 50% of the current market value. Authorized replicas such as the example here will only bare the I Bonheur stamp but will be missing the foundry mark. Casts of Le Grand Jockey were edited in four different sizes and it is rare to find examples of the largest size at 95cm.

The details of this repro model are well chased throughout, as can be seen by closely inspecting the acutely observed individual veins, tendons and muscles as well as the riders jacket and the horses mane. The superior definition and finite details of this cast will last forever if taken care of properly.
